I ordered an Essential Scotweb 5 Button Black Argyll Vest recently. The first thing which pleased me was that as I placed the order the confirmation email asked whether I was sure I had ordered the right size etc. This prompted me to realise that I had in fact ordered a size too large, and was able to change the order for the next size down. Stuart at Scotweb agreed that a loose fitting vest is not a good look. The vest also has an adjustable strap at the back to help it fit better. It did not have the buttoned pocket flaps shown in the product photo online.
The vest arrived the day before I was to take a funeral for the Presbyterian Church, a coincidence which pleased me greatly. This was especially true standing by the graveside on a grey, drizzling day, no warmer than 6 degrees Celsius at Jindabyne cemetery. I was comfortably warm despite the wintry Snowy Mountains weather. Recently the Monaro Caledonian Society, of which I am the Chief, held our Burns Supper. Once again I enjoyed wearing my new vest at a formal event. I was warm walking through town to the venue on a winter's night, comfortable in the air conditioned function room, though some thought it cold, and confident that I looked the part.
The vest complements my kilt outfit and Argyll jacket perfectly. I can now wear my kilt with Scotweb vest for the casual look, or, the Argyll jacket on it's own for the semi-formal look, or vest and jacket for the fully formal look. I do like that kind of versatility in an outfit. I like to wear my kilt any chance I can get and the vest now gives me more options to declare my Scottish heritage.IVClark 23/07/2016
