Clan MacBean (or MacBain) are a Highland clan, and one of the members of the historic Chattan Confederation.

The MacBeans fought with the rest of the Conferderation in a number of battles, but the most famous story was that of Gillies MacBean, who fought with the Jacobites at the Battle of Culloden. Upon seeing a breach in the wall, he threw himself into the gap and cut down fourteen of the enemy troops before he was eventually defeated.

The MacBean clan motto is "Touch not a Catt bot a Targe" and the clan crest is a wildcat holding a shield.
