Authentic Scottish Tweed

We supply tweed fabrics from all the top Scottish weaving mills, or handwoven-to-order on our own traditional shuttle looms. We supply cut tweed fabrics, custom-made traditional tweed clothing, and all tweed products.

We offer not only tweed jackets and tweed caps for men and tweed handbags or tweed skirts for ladies in a range of styles, but many other tweed products too. We can even make a tweed kilt. We can also of course supply tweed fabrics as cut lengths, or weave you a particular tweed if it is not available from stock.

Woven in hundreds of beautiful and distinctive patterns, tweed is a wonderfully versatile fabric. From high fashion to expressing ancient tradition, tweed has countless uses, whether decorative, ceremonial, or practical.

Please note that due to one company having acquired a monopoly on Harris Tweed production, this is temporarily available only in a highly restricted range of products. However, we expect new sources on the Isle of Harris to begin production of a wide range of traditional Harris Tweeds within the next year. Meanwhile, we're delighted to help with all requests.

Tartans and Tartan Kilts

Scotweb offers much more than tweeds, including the world's largest choice of kilts and tartans. We produce only top quality kilts made locally to the highest traditional standards. All our kilts can be purchased as single garments or from a range of complete kilt outfits for every occasion.

We make kilts in both traditional and casual styles. Our kilts can be fully hand-stitched or semi-machined as you prefer. And we provide a choice of high quality budget kilts, classic traditional kilts, or luxury bespoke kilts with prestige finishing.

We give you an unrivalled choice of tweeds or tartans and other materials. Our unique tartan finder lists every tartan recorded by the Scottish Tartans Authority, almost all available to purchase. We can even weave your own tweed or tartan design! Or if you prefer your kilt in denim, leather, or any other fabric, we'll do it all to the same exceptional standards.

There's only one type of kilt you will not find here: the badly-made tweed garments from cheap-labour economies using dubious fabrics that our competitors pretend are genuine. We are proud to protect the true heritage of Scotland, and will never sell you kilts or accessories that betray our authentic traditions.

Kilts today are made in two main styles: the full traditional kilt, and the lighter casual kilt. The traditional kilt is ideal for formal occasions, and is most impressive in a number of ways. The casual kilt offers advantages for daily wear and can suit a more fashionable look.

Either kilt style can be made in almost any tartan or tweed, or indeed in any suitable fabric. Most kilt wearers like to own at least one kilt in their own clan or family tartan (or in a tartan that has some other personal meaning to them). But you can also choose a tartan for your kilt that you like for many reasons. Or choose from tweeds, plain colours, or many other materials. Tartans are normally in pure new wool, but kilts can also be made in hypoallergenic tartans.
