Dear Eric, you asked about pleating and registering your design - I think that this would pleat just fine. It's well within the suggested size range of pattern and the colours and details would be beautiful. (Barbara Tewksbury's "Kiltmaking" book is great for explaining how to pleat tartans). As far as completing the form for registering a design, just follow the instructions on the Register website - it's easy and well-explained as to how to record the sett and colours (I've registered several now). If you make a mistake, I've found that Alison Diamond from the Register is very helpful. What a wonderful thing to do for your son!!!

Congratulations, Eric, on the birth of your son, Ian! Alaska in autumn must truly be magnificent if the colours are as rich as in this beautiful design of yours. Brian has many good ideas and suggestions, and I think that I like the American Rust a bit better than your brighter Chocolate. Either way, the love and happiness of the occasion comes through loud and clear. Great job!

Brian, thanks for the feedback. I'm new to this and appreciate any help. I looked at the design you were referring to but I'm not sure I follow; if anything I'd think there's more detail in the green in this one. I love the design and colors on this but I'm nervous to pull the trigger and register it without exploring more options. Could you clarify, or demonstrate what you meant by that? Thanks again!
Eric

Congratulations on the birth of Ian! I do like this, it's an unusual yet successful color combination. The only quibble I might have with this is that I liked the detail look of the fine lines in the narrower green stripes in Ian ?. I think the broader stripes with the finer detail work would be a nice improvement.
