Jura Tartan range. Excellent value UK-woven heavy-weight tartan; very hardy and slightly coarser than the top Scottish mills and tuck-in selvedge; good colours.

Strome Select range. A hardy and long-lasting traditional heavy weight worsted wool synonymous with the 8 yard hand made kilt, but with a tuck-in selvedge, from a top Scottish mill. The double width fabric means only half the normal length is required; the ancient shades in this fabric range are typically pale and subdued, which some may prefer.

Clan, District, & Irish Tartans range. Top quality 100% Pure New Wool kilting cloth in clan tartans, with traditional kilting selvedge and a nice smooth finish, from one of Scotland's leading weaving mills; the ancient colours in this fabric range are typically deeper and richer than other weavers.

Braeriach Standard range. A medium weight worsted wool with a large sett, smooth finish, and tuck-in selvedge; widely used for kilts, home furnishings etc. from one of Scotland's most respected weavers; their ancient shades in this fabric range are typically pale and subdued, which some may prefer.

Bute Tartan range. Notably soft for a medium weight woollen fabric, and uses a tuck-in selvedge; serious kilt wearers may prefer the excellent value 16oz range from this same UK mill.

Worsted Kilting range. Medium weight tartan from one of Scotland's top weavers, in a smooth finish but hard-wearing, with traditional kilting selvedge, ideal for men's kiltsladies skirts, and clothing accessories, in double width. Good colours.

The weaver calls this range of more unusual tartans "Old & Rare" and it really is top quality kilting cloth. With a lovely smooth finish and traditional kilting selvedge; , woven on single-width looms at 70cm wide. You'll find the ancient colours are particularly deep and rich. I've noticed that individual tartans aren't always in stock so do check with us first if in doubt.

Torridon Tartan range. Ideal for kilts, medium weight 100% worsted pure new wool; woven in the UK, so good quality but perhaps slightly more coarse than the best Scottish mills

Mediumweight Tartan range. A very good quality pure new wool with kilting selvedge from a highly respected Scottish weaver, in single width.

Hypoallergenic Polyviscose range. UK made lightweight hypo-allergenic polyviscose ideal for anyone with a wool allergy, and for its easy washing quality at 40 celsius; the colours are typically a little paler than wool, and there is no selvedge. 65% Polyester, 35% Viscose

Twill Weave range. Lightweight tartan from one of Scotland's top weavers, soft finish with good colours and with a traditional kilting selvedge, ideal for ladies skirts, clothing accessories, and men's kilts in very warm climates, in double width.

Reiver Lightweight range. A light worsted wool, with a smaller sett and soft finish, and a tuck-in selevedge; woven in Scotland by one of the nation's top specialists, suitable for many tailored items; their ancient shades in this fabric range are typically pale and subdued, which some may prefer.

Springweight wool range. This fabric is great value for money, and ideal for accessories like ties, handkerchiefs, sashes and the like. With a semi-transparent weave, fairly pale shades, and a typically small sett size this is perhaps slightly more textured than feather weight fabrics from other mills. But if you're not needing it for warmth this could be just the thing.

Dupion Silk range. An excellent larger sett size Dupion silk, which describes its manufacture from the silk worm's cocoon protein fibre, giving its characteristic natural texture of irregular ridges caused by the interlocking of double or parallel cocoons.

Tartan Lambswool range. A thicker and softer wool, but available only ready-made into a range of products and not as cut lengths.
