"Musician of the Year' at the 2003 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Spirit of Scotland Award for Music in 2000. This multi-instrumentalist from Glasgow came to the attention of the Battlefield Band while he was still at school. Even before Brian McNeill had left the Batties John had joined them on stage and wowed the audiences with his fiddle playing. Once Brian had left he was the obvious choice, and became a full-time Battie for over ten years. His previous band Parcel O' Rogues had a sufficient following to have an album released by Temple Records, who also put out his first two solo albums. He is also a member of the band Radio Sweethearts. His instrumental skills have graced over a hundred albums, and he has been in the producer's chair for many others. He has also written the scores for films/TV productions and some of his tunes have slipped into the standard repertoire. Tracks: + Billy's Bobby Theme + Billy's Fast Waltz + Billy's Slow Waltz + Billy's Reel + Banjo Reel + Wandering Soul + Billy's Breton + Shaeffer jig + Billy's Strathspey + The rose Of Sharon + Bill's Jog + Carnival Of Venice + Billy's Slow Air + Billy's March + The Cuckoo + The rose Of Sharon 2 + Pokarekare Ana"
