"An excellent recording. (Ambience) PATSY SEDDON & MARY MACMASTER, are widely known as harp players and singers in the duo SILEAS but also for their work with ""THE POOZIES"". ""CLAN ALBA"" and ""CALEDON"". Patsy plays a gut string harp, while Mary's harp is strung with brass, phosphor bronze and steel harpsichord wire. Ancient versions of these instruments have been played in Scotland since at least the ninth century. The magical combination of these two very different harps is the sound that has kept Sileas at the forefront of the ever expanding harp consciousness of the world. Steeped in Scottish tradition but also influenced by the music of their own time Sileas create a modem voice for the harp. Patsy and Mary also play the electro-harp. Patsy and Mary have been singing from an early age and this album reflects their wide taste in song with several songs in Gaelic the fruits of their many years studying the Gaelic language at school and university, particularly with Morag MacLeod of the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh. This is the fourth Sileas album but their first since 1990 and is eagerly anticipated by their huge following around the world. The album was recorded at Castle-Cava Studio, East Lothian, produced by Jim Sutherland and engineered by Stuart Hamilton.
