Bred since the 18th century in the rugged remote Scottish Highlands, the Highland Cow is the oldest registered breed of cattle. They are hardy animals with thick skins and double coats, and easily thrive on upland grass. While other breeds of cattle find the extreme cold and wet conditions of the Highlands impossible to survive in, Highland Cows actually seem to enjoy it!
