Plain Balmoral Hat The archetypal Highlanders' bonnet, which was worn tight around the brow and loose on top with a toorie (pompom) for decoration. In time it grew smaller and became known as the Balmoral. The ribbons at the back were for adjusting the headband to fit all head sizes, but today is merely decorative. In army tradition, Lowlanders (Scots from south of the Highlands) let the ribbons hang free whilst Highlanders would tie them in a bow. Matching Items For This Product From £695.00 (inc.
