Clan Crest Lapel or Tie Pin
About
|
Description
In Scotland's turbulent past it was the custom for Clan Chiefs to give their followers a metal plate of their crest, to be worn as a badge of allegiance which fastened to their clothing with a strap and buckle. When not in use the belt was coiled around the crest and this convention is used in the clan crest badges of today. Only a Clan Chief may wear the crest without the strap and buckle.
These superbly detailed clan crest designs are approved by the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs, as authentic representations taken from the arms of the Chief of the Clans. Every Clan Chief or family head has a Coat of Arms granted by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, which is listed in the Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland. The Register, established in 1592 and kept in the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh, is acknowledged as being the most magnificent heraldic manuscript in Scotland.

This lapel pin did not meet my expectations from Scotweb. There is little visible detail. Although the clan motto is clearly legible in the Scotweb example ("nobilis est ira leonis"), I cannot read the Kerr clan motto on the pin actually delivered -- even with a magnifying glass -- but only make out the general shape of the clan badge. It is, however, of basically good quality, but I can only rate it as "adequate" and not up to usual Scotweb standards. Anonymous

I am thrilled with the service that I have received from this site. The quality of the laple pins far exceeds the price that I paid for them. Delivery was prompt and efficient. It is always a concern using the internet to order goods but I will not hesitate to use your site in future. Helen Urquhart. aussiechef67 , Canberra Australia

This order arrived a week earlier than estimated and was exactly as specified. I have never worn a tie pin before and this one looks superb. It will round off my informal dancing wear. The order/delivery service was superb and Scotweb are to be congratulated on their excellent customer service. Graham Pickering Martin Marshall , Preston, Lancs
