Made from pewter by time served craftsmen. Supplied in a Leatherette presentation box. Claddagh is one of the oldest fishing villages in Ireland. Legend has it that at one time a young man from the village named Richard Joyce was abducted by Moorish pirates whilst out fishing. He was taken to Tunisia and there learnt the skills of a goldsmith. Upon receiving his freedom many years later he was offered a great wealth and the hand of a rich man's daughter, but instead chose to return to Claddagh where his true love awaited him. He married her and set up a goldsmith store, creating the Claddagh ring with its crown, to represent loyalty, hands, representing friendship, and a heart, for love.
