Essential Scotweb Ghillie Brogue Shoes
I was initially nervous about the quality and comfort of the "Essential" ghillie brogues, but I wanted a budget-priced shoe since I'll only be wearing them once or twice a year to "black tie" affairs. They FAR exceeded my expectations! The quality, materials, and workmanship are equal to shoes that sell for twice their price in US department stores and they are extremely comfortable. Now I'm trying to think of excuses to wear them more often! Clan Crest Semi-Dress Sporran
I'm thrilled with the excellent quality and workmanship. The only drawback is that my SIG Sauer P239 (in case of need for Jeddart justice!) barely fits inside, but if I leave the SIG out there's plenty of room for my other essentials (wallet, cellphone, keys, and FLASK) in this comfortable, compact, and versatile sporran. Stretch Kilt Hose
They fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable. A superb value in wool blend and they have the luxurious aroma of genuine Scottish wool. Hand-knitted Luxury Boy's Aran Sweater in 24 colours
This Aran sweater is an absolute delight! The quality of the wool is extremely good - proper new wool, but at the same time, soft enough that my 5-year old son doesn't find it too scratchy - while the design is a timeless classic, practical but also very good-looking. We've already had one neighbour ask whether my son's grandmother knit it for him! Meanwhile, I am astonished that it's possible to purchase such an 'heirloom' - handmade in Britain - at such an affordable price. Please consider this item very highly recommended. Sample Tartan Swatch
There is actually quite a few things to be said about this order. I will start with the order process itself. The Scotweb team was very helpful and forthcoming when I needed to have two swatch-orders combined as I recently moved to England and didn't want the shipment to arrive back home in Norway. Top job! Unfortunately, there were quite a few delays in the production of the final swatch, and here it would have been helpful if the order status had been updated more often than it was. At the longest, the order was one week over due before the status was updated with a new expected dispatch date. I did receive one e-mail from Scotweb concerning this delay, and they did upgrade the delivery method to Priority Next-Day without extra cost to me. Thank you for that! On to the swatches. I ordered two from "lochc" and one from "hedga", and as you can see from my photo, the size difference is quite substantial. The one from "hedga" being the smallest. The illustration photos on the website is a bit misleading, for as you can see on my photo, the swatches comes stapled to a sheet of paper rather than in the neat way they are portrayed online. Nevertheless, I would never second guess the decision to buy a swatch before purchasing a kilt online. The ability to see and feel how the fabric really is has unprecedented value! The Balmoral Kilt, Traditional 8 Yard Kilt with Flashes
Worth the wait. Even worth the 18% duty canada customs slapped on. When I first got this I brought it to my mom's (who is a seamstress) to just make sure was like it should be, and she was very impressed by the quality of the work, everything is finished nicely, including on the inside. I really like the tartan, as you can see there, it's in Wilson Modern from Lochcarron. Honestly, Balmoral Scotweb put out a good product, I have been wearing this around and people are really stunned by how well I pull it off, so maybe there is a bit of "me making the kilt look good"...but there is no doubt the kilt makes me look good too! :) The service was good as well, this was a time sensitive and they were more than willing to work with me to be reasonable and meet deadlines. Large Celtic Knot Buckle
I really like this belt buckle!! With my tartan, I find it gives an undeniably celtic feel, and frankly is a show of strength, it almost looks sort of..."wild...or savage, primitive" I am a fan. It is very substantial, I could throw this at a wall and I am sure it'd be just fine. In person it has a feel to it that just can't be captured by photos it seems...try it! Review date: 2009-10-13 |
