What's Under the Kilt? Booklet
This provides a good reminder to not take ourselves too seriously when we put on our kilts. If Scots in the homeland can laugh at themselves, then we cousins scattered around the world certainly should be able to do the same. The Balmoral Kilt, Traditional 8 Yard Kilt with Flashes
I love this kilt! I already had a casual kilt, made of synthetic fiber, but this is tremendously better. It fits like it was made just for me--which it was! The packing and shipping were fine, no damage, no delay. Scotweb was much more economical than kiltmakers in the U.S. and provided superb service. I can wear this on silly occasions as a costume (as in my photo), but I plan to make the most use of it for formal occasions with my Argyle jacket, dress sporan and all the rest of the outfit. I ordered a swatch first and when I was satisfied with the tartan, I went for the full kilt--and got the purchase price of the swatch deducted from that of the kilt. Review date: 2009-06-17 |

Casual Kilt
First I would tell anyone ordering to order in plenty of time. I ordered the whole casual kilt package (kilt, sporran, hose, shoes, gillie shirt, kilt pin, flashes, belt and belt buckle) The price was the best i found online, and all the commentary was great, so i ordered with little concern for trouble on the horizon. I ordered in mid march, was told it would arrive mid april, then the end of april, then the begining of may the the middle of may, then the end of may, then the begining of june. I must have bee told at least 10 times that the shippment date was set back. By then the jacobite shirt i had originally ordered had been discontinued and i had to pick a color I hadn't wanted (having wanted the natural over the white, so that it would match the hose) Finally they sent out the merchandise, but had forgotten to include the shirt with the first package, and i had to write to get this corrected. After all this i have all the merchandise and have no complaints about quality. The kilt is heavier than expected and seems to be very well made, the fit is perfect, and the kilt has a great swing to it. My boyfriend is so happy he could split. The jacobite shirts do seem to run a bit big, but all in all the product is well worth the money. Although i was put off many times as far as shipment dates, the customer service was always to the point, if not very friendly. Not a company i would use if you need your kilt in a hurry, but one i would use for quality for the price. Casual Kilt
I recently received my 5 yard Balmoral Kilt and couldn't be happier. It took some time but a deadline was not important. "Good things come to those who wait". I have two "casual kilts" made here in the States that cannot hold a candle to the new kilt mentioned here. The quality is obvious just by looking at it. Upon closer inspection you can see the attention to detail and craftsmanship in how it is made. I haven't told my wife but within a week of receipt I ordered a traditional 8 yard kilt. Hopefully, she won't make me sleep on the porch,....for too long. I am sure once she sees it AND HOW GOOD I LOOK IN IT, she'll allow me back in the house. Review date: 2009-06-09 |
