If you're shopping for a tartan you need to order swatches for each one being considered. Tartans viewed on computer monitors are reasonably accurate representations but there's no substitute for having the real thing in your hands, to feel it and look at it under different lighting conditions. I was considering several tartans for my 8 yard kilt, mainly the Caledonia, but decided to order swatches of a few others as well. Caledonia won out for my 8 yard kilt but Isle of Skye was so beautiful I ordered a second, casual kilt in it. You can narrow your choices on the computer but you need the swatches to make that final decision.

I was looking at various tartans trying to decide which weight and weave would be best for my wedding outfit. When this swatch arrived I was able to send it onward to compare with the bridesmaid dresses and found it was a great match. So much so that I've ordered what I require in the tartan and weave that I need from Scotweb. Great service and friendly staff who were able to help me split an order on some other swatches that I'd ordered. Finally thanks to Scotweb I can relax a little knowing that my wedding outfit is in hand and its one less stress for me.

Fantastic swatch really what I needed to ensure I chose the right tartan. Definitely big enough to give you a full idea of the tartan you are buying. I can't praise this enough or scotweb, quick delivery and just what they said it would be! Top marks.

I purchased as single swatch before I ordered a kilt and I was very happy with my initial selection. The Tartan I chose was not in stock but it had a scheduled weave date which was acceptable.
When ScotWeb reduced the price of the swatches, I ordered three additional samples so I would have one from each of the four firms which product the Tartan. I was very happy with each of the samples and I was able to confirm my initial choice.
The ScotWeb Team was helpful during the process and they provided status information via e-mail.

There is actually quite a few things to be said about this order.
I will start with the order process itself. The Scotweb team was very helpful and forthcoming when I needed to have two swatch-orders combined as I recently moved to England and didn't want the shipment to arrive back home in Norway. Top job! Unfortunately, there were quite a few delays in the production of the final swatch, and here it would have been helpful if the order status had been updated more often than it was. At the longest, the order was one week over due before the status was updated with a new expected dispatch date. I did receive one e-mail from Scotweb concerning this delay, and they did upgrade the delivery method to Priority Next-Day without extra cost to me. Thank you for that!
On to the swatches. I ordered two from "lochc" and one from "hedga", and as you can see from my photo, the size difference is quite substantial. The one from "hedga" being the smallest. The illustration photos on the website is a bit misleading, for as you can see on my photo, the swatches comes stapled to a sheet of paper rather than in the neat way they are portrayed online. Nevertheless, I would never second guess the decision to buy a swatch before purchasing a kilt online. The ability to see and feel how the fabric really is has unprecedented value!

Great swatches, a bit expensive tbh £26 for 2 swatches incl delivery BUT found the family tartan I wanted from them, better than the computer pic. shame you can't get the complete price of swatches back excluding postage but not to worry. just ordered my first full kilt outfit.

It was worth the money to see if this material was suitable for a dancer's kilt. It was and we are extremely happy to have ordered the full 7 yards at a great price.
Thanks, GR
