This is the second Aran knit I have purchased(the other is the Torridon style)and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the product or the efficiency of delivery. These sweaters are so cosy and comfortable I actually look forward to a cold winter.

Having a purled fringe really makes the fly plaid seem like a special garment for special occasions - which is what a fly plaid should be all about! But before ordering, it's worth thinking about exactly what you want. This fly plaid has a relatively small number of rather heavy/thick purls along the edge; others I've seen have a larger number of smaller/thinner purls (maybe 3 or 4 times as many). There's obviously a price/value tradeoff re such handwork (a smaller number of thicker purls obviously help keep the cost down, while a large number of small purls, each hand twisted & tied is a lot of work). The large purls are nicely done on this, and either way, a purled fringe is much nicer looking than the basic fringe that doesn't having the purling. But it's all a matter of preference. This fly plaid also has pleats sewn in for the corner that you pin to your shoulder. Such pre-sewn pleating is convenient and leaves less room for confusion about how one is "supposed to" pin such a thing on, which is nice if you've never worn such a thing and/or don't have much of a feel for how fabric drapes and hangs. On the other hand, leaving the pleating to the wearer to accomplish by properly pinning it does leave more room for such chivalrous gestures as unpinning your plaid and offering it to your lady to wear as a shawl if she's cold (in which case the pleats flatten out and the flyplaid becomes a big square shawl with nicely fringed ends that just happens to be a perfect match with your kilt!) Definitely a great thing to wear!

Just your basic black leather sporran, sized for the wee laddie in your life. Nothing fancy, but it's well-made & exactly what you need to go with a wee kilt.

Just about the cutest thing ever! It's not huge (description says 8x10), but nicely done with its little scarf & even a little feather on its hat. I ordered it for the wee laddie in my family, but it's so cute I'm going to have trouble parting with it!

Perfect winter accessory. This sweater is lightweight but incredibly warm. If you do not already own one, I highly recommend buying one as soon as you can. I love this sweater !

I was so impressed! I love my new Kilt and would recomend this site to everyone. I only hope this is not the last one I but. I had a little problem with cutoms because of the cost but no big deal. Somethimes it's hard on the size but I did loose some waight so it fits on the last hole!

I chose the Douglas Ancient tartan. I love the colours and craftmanship. I needed it woven and delivered before I leave for New Zealand - and they did just that. Excellent service.

They have a very comfortable heft to them, look and feel great.So far they held up well after a few washings.

Excellent quality, nice detail in the knot work looks much better in person then the picture shown, and the shape stands out from the rest of the rectangles.
