Wrote... This is one of the most versatile accessories I own with the kilt. I have worn it with a Ghillie (Jacobite) shirt for the 17th century look. However, I have also worn it with great success at black tie functions (Opening Ball at St Andrews, Scotland), where it held its own with Prince Charlie jackets. A must have for younger guy. As for the construction, 12oz tweed is almost a perfect weight. When outside, it will turn the Scottish gusts, but inside, it is light enough not to cause discomfort. The tweed fabric achieves a fine balance of softness and durability. The nickel buttons add a classy touch (though I am rather fond of the unique luster of nickel metal).
