About

A traditional Highland cup, used by chiefs to both welcome and bid farewell to their guests, this quaich is gorgeous take on a traditional cup. The word quaich comes from the Gaelic "cuach" for cup and is traditionally used to serve whisky or brandy. Sir Walter Scott was famous for dispensing wee drams to his guests in silver inlaid quaichs.

Whether you plan to welcome guests to your home with a bit of warming whisky, or even if you just appreciate the fine traditionalism, this wood and pewter lined quaich is a superb addition to any home.

Quaichs make very beautiful and unusual gifts and nothing makes a gift more special than engraving. We can arrange engraving at a charge of 30p (0.3 UK pounds) per letter, with a minimum charge of 5 pounds. We surcharge this after ordering; it is not shown on the checkout page, but will be on your receipt email after your order is charged. By default, the engraved text will be around the outside of the bowl but if you would prefer your message on the base, inside the bowl, or on a matching plinth (purchased separately), and we will be happy to arrange this. Engraving also adds 1-2 weeks onto the delivery time.

I need more advice - how can I get help?

We have three main ways of giving you extra information:

1. all around our site you’ll see little ‘info’ icons (like this: Scotweb information icon ) with help relevant to the place you see it; clicking one will normally pop up a help box, keeping you on the same page;

2. we have a large, fully searchable, Information Centre, linked at the top of every page, covering product advice, customer services, site navigation, and much more; try searching for the topic of your query (e.g. “returns”).

3. our customer service team is only an email or phone call away, and we even have toll-free lines from the UK and North America; so don’t hesitate to contact us, however trivial or complex your query.

Wrote... Since both my husband and I were so pleased with my first purchase from Scotweb, I decided to see if I could find something to give my husband for our 5th anniversary. Since the traditional gift was wood, and the modern gift was silverware, I decided on the Wood & Pewter Quaich. I even had it engraved. We have never seen anything like this item. Beautiful doesn't even come close to describing it. Yet another fabulous purchase from Scotweb.

Wrote... I chose to use the Scotweb store because of it's good prices and easy to navigate website. I was not disappointed. Trying to get a rush order of Scottish gifts for friends in Texas before leaving the USA was easy and stress-free. All customer care staff were more than helpful, courteous and responded quickly to questions. My order arrived BEFORE the date promised, in good condition and exactly as I had seen online. There were no surprises. I highly recommend the Scotweb store and commend their staff for excellent customer care.
