About
Originally worn under the armpit, the sgian dubh came to be tucked into the garter, or hose, by way of displaying concealed weapons when entering a friend's home. This practice has lasted through the centuries, and now it is considered an essential part of highland dress.
This fine quality sgian dubh has a superior leather sheath and highly polished mount, featuring eye-catching studs and classic Celtic knotwork motifs on the handle and sheath. The stone top is available in your choice of five colours.

Scotweb’s MD, Dr Nicholas J Fiddes, has written a free illustrated e-book, as a gift to help kilt lovers everywhere. In simple non-technical language it covers every aspect of buying a kilt, choosing your tartan, and accessorising an outfit for every occasion.
As a Governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, and founder of the world’s first company to market kilts on the Internet (yes, Scotweb) no one is better qualified to offer such advice. Impartial and objective, this is a personal work and is not a Scotweb publication.

This Sgian Dubh comes in a beautiful presentation box and is every bit as well finished and fitted as the website images suggest. For those of you concerned about having a 'knife' in your sock, the blade as it comes is about as blunt as a letter opener and you will not have any problems getting this through customs - it is a one sided blade and not a 'dagger' which might be a problem for Australian Customs. Blade to sheaf fit is nice and secure/tight. I got mine with an amethyst stone and the stone and fitting holding the stone look beautiful - it really completes my formal dress. nloken , Oslo, Norway

The Sgian Dubh comes in a lovely presentation case which makes it ideal for a present. The knife itself is finely crafted and looks the part. It is classy enough to be part of a formal outfit, yet still "simple" enough to be a trusted friend in daily wear. It would be nice if it could be delivered pre-sharpened, although this is not a big issue as sharpening a knife is fairly simple if one really needs to do so. Bought as part of a complete outfit which was delivered a full ten days before the initial expected dispatch date. Austin_10070137 , Japan

This product arrived within reasonable time. I really liked the design of the sheath and the handle of this sgian dubh. It's simple yet elegent. Although I do wish that there were the option for this product to be ordered pre-sharpened, so that I could actually use it to cut something. Own the full outfit
