About

Despite our northerly location the Shetland Islands still enjoy the benefits of the warm Gulf Stream with a temperate, oceanic climate. However, very few trees are able to grow because of the strength of the cold north winds that blow over the heathery hills and lochs. These climatic conditions have created the ideal environment for the purebred Shetland sheep which have had to grow a very soft and resilient fleece to protect them from these harsh winds, and so the world renowned Shetland wool is produced.

These chunky 'Islander' sweaters are hand-frame knitted on the Shetland isles and are made from 100% pure new Shetland wool.

Please note, that as these sweaters are hand-knitted by different knitters, sometimes the colours can vary slightly depending on what wools are available.

We divide the buying process into two main stages:
