Despite their northerly location the Shetland Islands still enjoy the benefits of the warm Gulf Stream with a temperate, oceanic climate. However, very few trees are able to grow because of the strength of the cold north winds that blow over the heathery hills and lochs. These climatic conditions have created the ideal environment for the purebred Shetland sheep which have had to grow a very soft and resilient fleece to protect them from these harsh winds, and so the world renowned Shetland wool is produced.

This chunky button cardigan is hand knitted to order from Shetland wool. It is knitted in the knitter's own home and is finished with wooden buttons.

These chunky cardigans are not only incredibly cosy but are comfortable too. Perfect for the cold Scottish weather.

Available in a range of colours (pictured in 'Mogit'.)

The sweater features the 'Shetland Lady' logo, the Shetland Knitwear trade association's official trademark which guarantees that the garment has been made in the Shetland Isles from the finest Shetland wool.

We divide the buying process into two main stages:
