About

This Casual or Sports kilt is expertly sewn to impress, but with a contemporary lower-waisted cut. Less weight makes this kilt the perfect choice for walking, sporting or social activities where the more substantial 8 yard kilt might be heavier than you wish.

On average this kilt uses 5 yards of fabric, though the exact length depends of your own measurements and your tartan's sett. The shallower pleats produce less 'swing' than a traditional kilt, but to most people's eye they are hard to tell apart.

We use the same top quality materials and expert skills that goes into our renowned 8 yard kilt. So you can be sure that there is nothing casual about the kiltmaking.

I need more advice - how can I get help?

We have three main ways of giving you extra information:

1. all around our site you’ll see little ‘info’ icons (like this: Scotweb information icon ) with help relevant to the place you see it; clicking one will normally pop up a help box, keeping you on the same page;

2. we have a large, fully searchable, Information Centre, linked at the top of every page, covering product advice, customer services, site navigation, and much more; try searching for the topic of your query (e.g. “returns”).

3. our customer service team is only an email or phone call away, and we even have toll-free lines from the UK and North America; so don’t hesitate to contact us, however trivial or complex your query.

Where can I find more in-depth information about kilts & tartans?

Kilts and Tartan Made EasyScotweb’s MD, Dr Nicholas J Fiddes, has written a free illustrated e-book, as a gift to help kilt lovers everywhere. In simple non-technical language it covers every aspect of buying a kilt, choosing your tartan, and accessorising an outfit for every occasion.

As a Governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, and founder of the world’s first company to market kilts on the Internet (yes, Scotweb) no one is better qualified to offer such advice. Impartial and objective, this is a personal work and is not a Scotweb publication.

Wrote... The tartan is beautiful, the tailoring excellent, the kilt stunning. It's exactly what I wanted and then some. The dispatch happened 3 weeks after the initial promised date and although the phone staff was friendly they didn't know why there was a delay and were never able to change the order information on the web site to reflect the changes. Considering that the tartan had to be specially woven I can understand why it might take longer than expected although it would have been nice to have been kept in the loop. In the end it was well worth the wait!

Wrote... This is a great kilt and is superb quality from the material, to the fitting and construction. I find it's easy to wear with anything from a T-shirt to a polo, or vest with tie. Its especially great if you live in a hotter climate during the summer months, like I do, for wearing to games and other events where an 8 yard kilt would be a little heavy.
