 As much as we enjoyed the extra hour in bed on Sunday thanks to the clocks going back, these long dark nights have got us pining for the all-too-short summer. But as the weather gets even colder, out thoughts have turned to wrapping up warm, and to updating our wardrobes for winter.
With that in mind, this issue we're bringing you the best knitwear that Scotweb has to offer. Continue the Tradition
 Our Aran sweaters and cardigans are some of the most popular items on our site, due to the high quality materials and traditional techniques used in their creation. 'Traditional Hand-Knitters', from whom we source the majority of our Aran garments, knit each item on proper knitting needles, just like your granny used to do. They are knitted in the knitter's own home using 100% pure new wool and will even have the name of the knitter hand-written on the label. We really don't think you'll find winter woollies cosier, or more authentically Scottish than this!

Fair Isle Knits fit for a King
 Ever since Edward VIII made Fair Isle tank tops popular in 1921, Fair Isle knits have been a staple part of the winter wardrobe. Named after Fair Isle, a tiny island in the north of Scotland, islanders there have been knitting the distinctive patterns for hundreds of years. The unique technique uses multiple colours to create bright and unusual patterns.
Our popular Fair Isle knits are created for us by a family firm, founded in 1873 in Shetland. They use high quality Shetland wool, shown by the 'Shetland lady' trademark which guarantees the authenticity of the wool.

Baby, It's Cold Outside
 We've also been busy this month giving our children's wear section a shake-up, and we have some beautiful new winter woollies to suit every age group.
Our cosy Aran sweaters, cardigans, gloves and hats are made from washable acrylic - so they're practical too - and have been hand-knitted in Scotland, just like our adult range. Our Fair Isle cardigans and sweaters look especially cute when teamed with one of our children's kilts and are a great addition to your wee one's wardrobe. Countdown to Christmas
 Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat and the shops are full of tat - it's definitely that time of year again. But before you run screaming for the hills, we're not about to get all festive on you, instead we'd just like to remind you that if you're looking for Highland dress for the party season then it's best to get your orders in soon. Our kilts can take around 6-8 weeks to make at this busy time of year (although rush orders are often possible) so if you're interested in adding a touch of tartan to the festivities, take a look at the link below.
We also have a gorgeous range of tartan accessories for the ladies, such as shawls, stoles or handbags, to add a bit of glam to proceedings. Dare we say it....only 8 weeks to go! |
