Is a synthetic or natural hide pipebag better?

The advantage of the synthetic bag is that it does not need any seasoning so it is classed as ‘maintenance free’. The hide or sheepskin bag requires to be seasoned every so often, and is more traditional. But there is little to tell between them in terms of sound.
