I’m trying to play my new chanter (or pipes) but only get one note.
This is a common problem caused by the player not covering all the holes properly. In most cases, it is the hole at the rear of the chanter that is not fully covered. If this is uncovered, the rest of the holes become ineffective and only one note is produced. This hole should be covered by the thumb of the left hand. Once you have checked this, you should find you will get the Low G sound by covering all holes on the chanter and then simply follow the instructions in the learning book to play the basic scale.
